Tharaka University has set a new standard in public sector accountability and governance, earning national recognition after the Auditor General confirmed the institution has received an unqualified audit opinion in all recent financial years. This revelation, made during a session with the Parliamentary Committee on Public Investments (Governance and Education), left Members of Parliament astonished, noting that Tharaka University is the first public university to achieve such a record.
The university’s exceptional performance was attributed to the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, whose commitment to transparency, compliance, and sound financial management has transformed the institution. MPs also praised the university for fully complying with the 30/70 ethnic composition rule, further affirming its commitment to inclusive governance and national cohesion.
These achievements come just months after Tharaka University was featured in the Daily Nation as one of the few state corporations and state-owned enterprises with a clean bill of health on pending bills, placing it among Kenya’s most compliant and efficiently managed public institutions.
TUN’s doors are open to those who wish to transfer to our institution via the KUCCPS transfer window, which is open until August 24th.
