Tharaka University proudly participated in the Mount Kenya and Aberdares Region Economic Bloc (MKAEB) Pre-LCOY on Climate Resilience and Finance Workshop, held from 20th to 22nd August 2025 at Marimanti Homelodge Resort, Tharaka Nithi.
The University’s delegation, led by Mr. John Kiplang’at, Director of the Centre for Climate Change, reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to climate restoration, eco-friendly practices, and climate-smart agriculture. He emphasized the institution’s strong support for community-driven and youth-led initiatives as vital drivers of sustainable climate action.
This Pre-LCOY brought together over 20 youth representatives from across the MKAEB counties (Nyeri, Nyandarua, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Laikipia, Nakuru, and Kiambu) to deepen their understanding of climate resilience, finance, just energy transition, and sustainable food systems.
The workshop forms a critical step in shaping the Kenya Youth Position for LCOY 2025, which will contribute to the global YOUNGO position ahead of COP 30 in Belém, Brazil 🇧🇷 — ultimately influencing Kenya’s official stance at the UN Climate Summit.
Tharaka University remains committed to being a key player in climate education, advocacy, and action — working hand in hand with youth and communities to build a climate-resilient future.
