Tharaka University Celebrates a National Hero!
We proudly congratulate our Vice-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, on being declared a National Hero today, 20th October 2025, by The National Heroes Council in recognition of his outstanding contributions to environmental conservation.
This prestigious honor follows a rigorous evaluation and public consultation process, highlighting Prof. Muriungi’s transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to sustainability.
Under his stewardship:
– Over 40,000 trees have been planted and sustained at Tharaka University’s main campus.
– More than 30,000 tree seedlings are donated annually to support local community greening initiatives
