Tharaka University (TUN) men’s and women’s rugby teams have officially arrived in Meru Town to compete in Season Two of the Bingwa Fest National Finals, scheduled to take place from 3rd to 5th April 2026 (Easter Weekend).
Building on an impressive performance in the inaugural season, where the men’s team delivered outstanding results to finish as runners-up, Team TUN returns to the national stage with renewed determination and confidence, eyeing championship victory in both categories.
The TUN Men’s Rugby Team (BERSERKERS) has been placed in Pool B, where they will face strong competition from Kisii University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), and Makueni Ravens.
Meanwhile, the TUN Women’s Rugby Team will also compete in Pool B, taking on Jackals Women, Kithimu Community, and Mwira Community, setting the stage for thrilling encounters.
Pool matches will be played at Kaaga Girls High School and Meru School Grounds, while the finals, scheduled for Sunday, 5th April 2026, will take place at Kinoru Stadium, promising an exciting climax to the tournament.
With eyes firmly set on victory, Team TUN is determined to emerge as champions and bag a whopping grand prize of KSh 1,500,000 in both the men’s and women’s categories.
This participation underscores Tharaka University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, promoting teamwork, discipline, and fostering regional collaboration through sports.
The teams are accompanied by Mr. Bonface Kimathi Gichunge, Sports Officer, and Mr. Daniel Omwenga, TUN Rugby Coach, who continue to guide and support the athletes throughout the tournament.
As the games kick off, teams from across the region are expected to converge in Meru, creating a vibrant platform for competition, unity, and cultural exchange.
