01 Admissions & Applications

Tharaka University runs three intakes per year:

  • September: July 1 – August 15
  • January: November 1 – December 15
  • May: March 1 – April 15

Late applications are not guaranteed. Contact the Directorate of Marketing and Admissions to confirm whether late submission is possible for your programme.

Yes. Deferral is possible in certain circumstances. Submit a formal deferral request to the Admissions Office before the semester begins.

Approval is not automatic and is subject to programme availability.

  1. Go to the admissions portal.
  2. Create an account.
  3. Complete the application form.
  4. Upload required documents.
  5. Pay the application fee through E-Citizen.
  6. Track your application under "My Applications".

Payment is made through E-Citizen after submitting the online application.

Yes. Tharaka University has an accredited School of Law located at the Tuition Complex on the Main Campus.

03 Fees & Payments

Fees are determined by the University Council and Senate and may change according to prevailing circumstances.

Yes. Tharaka University allows fee payment in instalments within a semester. A minimum deposit is required before registration.

Contact Finance to confirm the minimum amount and instalment schedule.

Late payment may result in suspension of access to the student portal, LMS and examination results. Persistent non-payment may lead to deregistration.

Depending on the programme and mode of study, additional charges may include:

  • Registration fee
  • Caution/deposit fee
  • Examination fee
  • ICT/library levy

Payments should be made through official University payment channels, including the student portal.

04 Financial Aid

05 ODeL & Online Learning

ODeL stands for Open, Distance and e-Learning. It allows students to study without attending traditional physical classes.

ODeL learners receive accredited qualifications, and the certificate does not indicate the mode of study.

Certain assessments and examinations may require physical attendance at a designated examination centre.

Check the examination schedule communicated through the LMS and student portal.

Yes. The Tharaka University LMS is mobile-accessible.

Students access course materials through the LMS. Live classes are delivered through KENET Web Conference, while recorded sessions are available for playback.

ODeL programmes include undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes in Education, Business and Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Information Technology.
