Tharaka University (TUN) today successfully concluded the four-day Financial Literacy and Best Agricultural Practices Training Programme for members of Nkondi United SACCO at the Main Campus, marking the culmination of an impactful initiative aimed at enhancing financial resilience and promoting sustainable agricultural productivity.
The final day featured insightful sessions on Soil Health, Animal Fertility Management, and Improved Crop and Animal Production Technologies, facilitated by Mr. David Marii, as well as Animal Nutrition and Feed Formulation, delivered by Dr. Duncan Wanjohi. The participants also undertook a practical tour of the University’s teaching farm, where they gained hands-on experience and observed modern agricultural technologies and best farming practices in action.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, Dr. Nyamu, who commended the participants for their dedication throughout the programme and encouraged them to become ambassadors of sustainable agriculture and sound financial management within their communities. He later awarded certificates to all participants in recognition of their successful completion of the training.
Speaking after the ceremony, members of Nkondi United SACCO expressed their appreciation to Tharaka University for the enriching training, noting that the knowledge and practical skills acquired would immediately be applied in their farming enterprises. They further pledged to share the knowledge with fellow SACCO members to promote increased productivity, food security, and economic empowerment across their communities.
The successful conclusion of the workshop reaffirms Tharaka University’s commitment to community engagement, knowledge transfer, and empowering farmers through research-driven, practical, and transformative training programmes.
