With great commitment to transforming education, Tharaka University has successfully concluded a transformative five-day journey of innovation, collaboration, and digital learning advancement of the Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) Module Development & Capacity Building Workshop, a significant milestone in the University’s journey in internationalization and expanding access to quality, flexible, and technology-driven learning.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Research and Students Affairs (ARSA), Prof. Veronica Nyaga, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Muriungi, who appreciated the commitment and good work towards building todays and future academia. Prof. Nyaga celebrated the remarkable progress made in strengthening digital learning delivery and applauded the commitment of the ODeL expert Dr. Augustine Mwangi, PhD, who helped in details and expertise throughout the week in refining and shaping the deliverables.
Throughout the workshop, teaching staff from the seven faculties engaged in practical sessions on online module development, instructional design, learner engagement, and effective use of the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS).
A significant milestone was achieved as participants submitted their completed modules, which will now undergo review and quality assurance before being fully onboarded onto the LMS, paving the way for enhanced ODeL programme delivery.
The workshop was attended by university leadership, including DVC Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Collins Miruka; Registrar Academic Affairs Dr. Daniel Mwangi; Deans, Heads of Departments, Section Heads, and teaching staff from the seven faculties.
The workshop marks another bold step in Tharaka University’s commitment to expanding access to quality, flexible, and technology-driven education.
