Tharaka University (TUN) has today started a four-day stakeholder engagement and curriculum development workshop at the Kenya School of Government, Embu, in conjunction with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
The board’s Registrar and CEO, Eng. Grace Onyango, is leading the training as the University takes a bold move to diversify its academic programmes and expand opportunities for aspiring engineers.
The workshop focuses on strengthening three proposed programmes: the Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication and Information Engineering, and the Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Through expert guidance on the Washington Accord framework, outcomes-based engineering education, curriculum mapping, graduate attributes, and assessment standards, Tharaka University is laying the foundation for programmes that meet professional and global standards.
TUN team is being led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Collins Miruka, alongside Dr. Patrick Kanampiu, Director, Quality Assurance, Dr. Fidelis Ngugi, Dean Faculty of Physical Science and Engineering. Curriculum consultants are also supporting the development process.
The diversification of engineering programmes will broaden opportunities for students while equipping future engineers with relevant, industry-responsive skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological world.
