Tharaka University hosted a two-day hackathon on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and practical problem-solving skills in emerging technologies. The event brought together students and lecturers from Tharaka University ,Murang’a University, Meru University, Karatina University, Machakos University and Tharaka Technical and Vocational College. Delivering the keynote address, Yvonne Kagondu, from Caffèine AI urged participants to embrace ethical AI, strengthen cybersecurity systems and develop solutions that address real societal challenges. Participants engaged in team-based working sessions where they brainstormed ideas, developed projects and presented their innovations before judges. Lecturers and mentors guided the teams through concept development and implementation. In his closing remarks, Dr Ismael Munene Kwenga, CoD Computer Science and ICT, commended the participants for their creativity and teamwork, reaffirming TUN’s commitment to advancing innovation, research and inter-university collaboration in technology.
