
Tharaka University (TUN) KhoKho teams delivered commendable performances at the 5th KhoKho National Championship (KARU Edition) held at Karatina University in Kirinyaga County, showcasing determination, teamwork, and a strong competitive spirit.
The ladies’ team emerged among the top performers in the tournament, finishing in an impressive third position. The team registered a dominant 24–0 victory against Karatina University and secured another important win against Embu. Despite spirited efforts, they fell short against JKUAT and Meru. Their outstanding performance earned them a trophy finish, highlighting their growth and strength in the sport.
The men’s team also displayed resilience throughout the championship. They faced a tough loss against Chokoras Club and later drew with Embu. The team advanced to the quarterfinals, where they were eliminated, finishing in a respectable fourth place overall.
The performance by both teams reflects TUN’s growing competitiveness in KhoKho and its continued commitment to excellence in sports. The players demonstrated discipline, unity, and determination, key values that define the university’s sporting culture.
