Tharaka University Advances Internationalization Through Strategic Engagement with IAA Tanzania

Tharaka University (TUN) Vice Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, PhD, has today hosted delegates from the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA), Tanzania, who earlier paid a courtesy call to his office ahead of a high-level consultative meeting aimed at fostering collaboration and partnership between the two institutions. The engagement aligns with Tharaka University’s internationalization agenda, which seeks to strengthen global and regional academic linkages while expanding opportunities for research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Muriungi welcomed the proposed partnership, noting that strategic collaborations among institutions of higher learning are critical in advancing academic excellence, research, innovation, and regional integration. He underscored the importance of leveraging such partnerships to create transformative opportunities for students, staff, and the wider society.

The discussions explored a broad range of areas for cooperation, including staff and student exchange programmes, joint research projects and publications, development of academic and professional programmes, capacity-building initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship development, and community engagement activities. The proposed collaboration also seeks to facilitate joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and postgraduate supervision.

The visit underscores the shared commitment of Tharaka University and the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) to promoting academic cooperation, research collaboration, innovation, and internationalization in higher education, while strengthening institutional ties within the East African region.

Present during the engagement were representatives from both institutions, led by Dr. Grace Temba, Deputy Rector, Academic, Research and Consultancy at IAA Tanzania, who expressed optimism that the partnership will yield meaningful academic and professional outcomes for the benefit of the two institutions and contribute significantly to the advancement of higher education across East Africa.

TUN remains steadfast in its pursuit of strategic partnerships that enhance academic excellence, foster innovation, and position the University as a key player in regional and global higher education.
