Momentum, innovation and celebration defined Day Two of Tharaka University’s Module Development Workshop as participants intensified the development of high-quality Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) modules, reaffirming the University’s commitment to expanding access to quality digital education while strengthening its position as a leader in technology-enabled learning.
The workshop, bringing together academic staff from the University’s seven faculties, continued with practical, hands-on sessions focused on designing learner-centred, interactive and academically robust digital modules. Led by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Planning), Prof. Collins Miruka, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research and Student Affairs), Prof. Veronica Nyaga, alongside ODeL expert, the sessions equipped participants with practical skills and best practices in digital content development as the University advances to have its programmes at the ODeL mode of study
The day also presented a moment of immense institutional pride as participants paused to congratulate the Director of ODeL, Mr. Kevin Tuei, who represented Tharaka University at State House, Nairobi, during the national recognition of Kenya’s exceptional performance in the Huawei ICT Competition.
The recognition celebrated the country’s outstanding achievements on the global stage and highlighted the transformative role of digital skills, innovation and strategic partnerships in advancing higher education.
Speaking during the workshop, the University leadership reaffirmed Tharaka University’s commitment to developing high-quality digital learning resources to enhance flexibility, accessibility, and student engagement. The continued investment in ODeL, coupled with national recognition in ICT excellence, reflects the University’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates equipped with the knowledge and digital competencies required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
