The third day of Tharaka University (TUN) stakeholder engagement and curriculum development engineering workshop at the Kenya School of Government, Embu placed Programme Educational Objectives at the centre of discussions.
The forum examined how the objectives of the three engineering programmes can prepare graduates for professional practice, lifelong learning and the evolving demands of the profession.
The key highlight was the Telecommunication Engineering programme, underscoring the critical role of discipline as the backbone of the digital economy.
The programme’s relevance extends beyond technical competence, positioning graduates to engage with emerging technologies, navigate a globally connected professional environment, and contribute meaningfully to the digital transformation agenda.
The participants also discussed guidelines for evaluators, emphasising their alignment with the requirements of the Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK) and the Commission for University Education (CUE), Quality Assurance, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). The forum further explored the career and professional life of an engineer, reinforcing the importance of producing competent, adaptable and professionally grounded graduates throughout their careers.
