Tharaka University (TUN) Alumni Association members, led by the Chairperson and founding TUSA President, Mr. Allan Mwaniki, have held their inaugural meeting at the main campus to mobilise resources for the Endowment Fund.
The meeting brought together alumni to support the University’s efforts to raise Sh150 million to establish a sustainable fund that will provide needs-based financial assistance to deserving students.
The Endowment Fund campaign was championed by Walk Ambassador, Mr. Isaack Gachugo, who trekked for 530 kilometres in the Mount Kenya region to raise awareness and support for the initiative.
Mr. Mwaniki said the alumni association will play a key role in mobilising former students and other stakeholders to contribute towards the Fund.
“The Endowment Fund will create a sustainable source of support for students facing financial challenges. Rather than spending the principal amount, the Fund will be invested, with only the income generated being used to support deserving students,” said Mr. Mwaniki.
He added that the model would allow contributions to benefit students for many years while ensuring accountability to donors and partners.
“Our alumni are part of Tharaka University’s story, and we have a responsibility to give back and ensure that financial challenges do not prevent deserving students from completing their education,” he added.
The University will host the TUN Endowment Fund Gala Dinner on Friday, December 11, 2026, at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. The flagship fundraising event is expected to bring together alumni, corporate partners, government, and friends of the University to support the initiative.
