Tharaka University (TUN), Vice-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, received guests from the Public Service Performance Management Unit, under the Office of the President

Tharaka University (TUN), Vice-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, received guests from the Public Service Performance Management Unit, under the Office of the President, who paid a courtesy visit ahead of the annual performance contract evaluation for the 2024/2025 financial year. The team was led by Mr Robert Ngei, Director of Economic Planning and Performance, and Ms Melody Nyongesa, Assistant Director of Economic Planning and Performance.
The Chairman of the Council and chair of the meeting, Prof. Peter Keiyoro, affirmed that the exercise is not only a compliance issue but an exercise to deliberately improve for better service delivery. The evaluation aimed to assess institutional performance and compliance with set national targets in the just-completed financial year. During the exercise, the officers acknowledged TUN for its compliance with the national guidelines and recognition for being the best in the previous year. The team also invited areas of collaboration between the Ministry and Tharaka University in events, training, workshops, and joint research papers.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, commended the Performance Contracting directorate, led by the director, Ms Wendy Micheni, for the continued outstanding performance up to national recognition as the best corporate institution in Performance Contracting. He also affirmed to work on areas of collaboration.
The acknowledgement affirms the university’s dedication to upholding excellence in service delivery and overall institutional performance.
Present during the evaluation exercise were Mr. Issa Mohamed Ahmed, an Independent Council Member, Prof. Collins Miruka -Administration, Finance, Planning, and Development, Dr. Daniel Mwangi, Registrar (Academic Affairs), Dr. Edward Kathuni, Ag. Registrar (Administration and Planning), Dr Collins Sitienei, Director Partnerships and Linkages, Mr Anthony Mutegi – Head of Finance, and Mr. Kevin Tuei -Director Odel.
