TUN Boosts Postgraduate Research Skills Through International Seminar

Tharaka University hosted Dr. Janneke van der Wal, a Senior Lecturer from the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics in the Netherlands, for an engaging seminar with postgraduate students and faculty members from Linguistics and Literature.

Dr. van der Wal led discussions on fieldwork methodologies, as well as data processing, management and ethics; key areas that underpin rigorous research in linguistics and related disciplines.

Drawing from her extensive experience, she provided participants with practical approaches to conducting effective fieldwork, including ethical considerations, data collection techniques, and working in diverse linguistic environments.

The seminar also introduced participants to effective strategies and modern tools for organizing, analyzing, and managing research data.

Faculty members and postgraduate students actively engaged in discussions, sharing experiences and gaining valuable insights to strengthen their research practices.

This engagement reflects Tharaka University’s commitment to academic excellence and global collaboration, providing students and staff with opportunities to learn from distinguished international scholars.

Present during the seminar included; Dr. Patrick Kanampiu – Lecturer in English and Linguistics,   Dr. Kimathi Muembu, COD- Department of Humanities and other members of TUN teaching fraternity and Post-graduate students.
