Tharaka University (TUN) held an Accommodation Stakeholders’ Meeting as part of its preparations to receive over 6,300 first-year students, recently placed at the University by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) , who are expected to report for admission on 25th August 2026 for the September 2026 intake.
The meeting was led by the Dean of Students, Dr. Shadrack Munanu, alongside the Chairperson of the Accommodation Committee, Dr. Faustine Muchui, and brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including accommodation officials, security agencies, local administrators, student leaders, landlords and landladies, and members of the business community.
The engagement focused on ensuring institutional preparedness for the smooth admission, accommodation, and settlement of the incoming students. Discussions centered on mapping available hostels, strengthening security arrangements, enhancing student welfare services, and fostering collaboration between the University and private accommodation providers.
Participants underscored the need to maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and service delivery to guarantee a conducive living and learning environment for the freshers. Security agencies and local administrators also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the University’s efforts to ensure students’ safety and well-being within and around the institution.
The meeting further provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share recommendations and align their efforts towards delivering a seamless transition for the new students as they embark on their academic journey at Tharaka University.
