Tharaka University has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education and community engagement following a visit by students from Kamatungu School for the Deaf.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to tour the university, interact with staff and students, gaining insights into higher education opportunities available to learners with hearing impairments.
A key highlight of the visit was an engagement with the Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, who reiterated the university’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with Kamatungu School for the Deaf.
He expressed the institution’s willingness to explore opportunities for developing educational programmes and curricula tailored to the needs of the deaf community.
The proposed collaboration seeks to expand access to relevant learning opportunities, equip learners with practical skills and create pathways for learners with hearing impairments to pursue further education and professional development.
The engagement underscores Tharaka University’s commitment to making education more accessible, inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs of society.
Through partnerships with institutions such as Kamatungu School for the Deaf, the University aims to promote equal opportunities and ensure that learners with disabilities are not left behind in the pursuit of quality education.
