Tharaka University hosted a delegation from Meru University of Science and Technology for a benchmarking exercise focused on strengthening Open, Distance and E-Learning (ODeL) programmes. The visit was aimed at fostering knowledge exchange, sharing best practices, and exploring innovative strategies to enhance digital learning delivery. Discussions centered on e-learning infrastructure, instructional design, learner support systems, quality assurance, and integration of emerging technologies in virtual education. The delegation was received by Tharaka University Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Collins Miruka who emphasized the need for knowledge exchange between the two universities. Mr. Kevin Tuwei, the Acting Director of Odel at TUN, reaffirmed the importance of inter-university collaboration in advancing academic excellence and improving access to quality education through digital platforms. While addressing the visiting team, Dr. Ismael Kwenga, Director of Information Technology at Tharaka University underscored the University’s commitment to expanding access to flexible, technology-driven education in line with global trends in higher learning. Dr. Samson Munialo, Director, Odel at Meru University lauded Tharaka University’s resolve to integrate e-learning and technology in enhancing easy and high-quality access to education. Tharaka University has deployed a wholistic blend of people, processes and technology for successful implementation of their Odel project.
