Tharaka University hosted the 4th National Conference of the Supply Chain Students Association of Kenya (SCSA-K), bringing together students, industry professionals and academic leaders to deliberate on the future of supply chain management and youth empowerment.
The conference, organized in collaboration with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, HELP Logistics/Kuehne Foundation, and the National Youth Council, and sponsored by Tellam International, Equity bank, Wanunuzi Sacco and Kikao international was held under the theme “Empowering Youth Through Skills Development and Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future.” The forum provided a platform for knowledge sharing, professional mentorship and collaboration among students from several institutions including Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Chuka University, Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA), and Embu University.
The event was officially opened by Tharaka University Vice Chancellor/CEO Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, who underscored the importance of equipping young people with practical competencies, innovation skills and entrepreneurial mindsets to thrive in an increasingly dynamic global economy.
While welcoming the participants, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies(FBUST), Dr. James Nyamu, emphasized the University’s commitment to nurturing professionals capable of strengthening supply chain systems and contributing to sustainable development across Africa.
The conference featured insightful presentations from key industry and policy leaders. CPSP Jeniffer Cirindi Njiru, Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) Chairperson of the Council, encouraged students to focus on building practical skills, embracing professionalism early in their careers and upholding integrity as a fundamental pillar of leadership and professional growth.




Mr. Gary Asike, Supply Chain Consultant at HELP Logistics, a programme of the Kuehne Foundation, delivered a presentation on Supply Chain Skills for Sustainable Employment, highlighting the importance of competency-based training, industry collaboration and continuous learning in preparing graduates for opportunities within the global supply chain sector.
Participants also benefited from a presentation by Ms. Gloria Wawira, Ag. CEO of the National Youth Council, who challenged young people to amplify their voices in national development while embracing innovation, digital skills and entrepreneurship as pathways to addressing youth unemployment.
The conference featured interactive sessions, presentations and panel discussions from Mr. Donald Midodo President SCA-K, Mr. Abour Felix CEO SCA-K, Mr. Benard Mukundi a KISM council member and Mr. Gary Asige from HELP logistics who provided students with practical insights into emerging trends and career opportunities in supply chain management.
The event reaffirmed Tharaka University’s commitment to strengthening partnerships between academia, industry and professional bodies in order to develop ethical, competent and globally competitive graduates capable of addressing contemporary supply chain challenges.
