Tharaka University (TUN) Vice Chancellor and CEO Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, Ph.D., today officially opened a three-day induction training for the 2026/2027 Tharaka University Students Association (TUSA) leaders at The Luke Hotel, Thika Town.
The leadership training brings together newly elected student leaders, led by TUSA Chairperson Mr. Kennedy Mwaniki, for a transformative programme aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, enhancing governance skills, and fostering unity among the student leadership as they work together to better serve the student community.
Present during the first day of the training were Prof. Collins Miruka, Ph.D., Deputy Vice Chancellor (AFP&D), Dr. Shadrack Munanu, Dean of Students, Dr. Denis Obete, Assistant Dean of Students, Mr. Isaiah K. Njeru, a Student Counselor, and Mr. Titus Kajiita – AA Dean of Students office who reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing responsible and visionary student leadership.
Facilitators for the day included Ms. Lydia Chepkirui, Director of Olenguruone Mental Health Centre, and Ms. Jessica Cherotich from Caritas Catholic Diocese of Nakuru, who led engaging sessions on leadership, governance, and mental health awareness.
Speaking after the session, TUSA Chairperson Kennedy Mwaniki noted that the induction training will greatly strengthen the capacity of the student leadership to effectively represent and serve the interests of the student community.
The three-day programme will continue with additional sessions designed to equip the leaders with essential skills for effective representation and service.
