Tharaka University today marked a significant milestone in its partnership agenda following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tharaka University and Dandelion Africa, a Kenyan women-led Non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on women’s health and improving economic outcomes in rural areas. The MoU was signed by Prof. Collins Miruka, DVC Administration, Finance, Planning and Development, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Prof. Peter Kinyua Muriungi.
The partnership seeks to foster mutual growth through collaboration in key areas such as student exchange -both on attachment and internship, student mentorship, research and field extension, collaborative research, and community outreach activities.
In his remarks, Prof. Miruka welcomed the officials and highlighted the strong alignment between TUN and Dandelion Africa’s focus areas. He noted that the partnership resonates with the organization’s key pillars, including Women Livelihoods, Health Programs, Youth Programs, and Advocacy, areas that strongly complement the university’s mission of community engagement and development.
The team was led by Ms. Wendo Sahar, Executive Director, Julia Ayaya -Monitoring &Evaluation Manager, and Naomi Nyanchama, Chief Operations Officer. On behalf of Tharaka University, those present included Dr. Collins Sitienei (Director, Linkages and Partnerships), Dr. Urbanus Ndolo, Director, Resource Mobilization and University Advancement, Prof. Mary Karuri, Dean FHSS, and Dr. Lacton Mugambi, Dr. Nicholas Rono and Dr. Simon Ndwiga
