TUN SIGNS STRATEGIC MoU WITH ESG RESOURCES INSTITUTE (EGYPT)

Tharaka University (TUN) has today taken a significant step in strengthening its global partnerships following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Resources Institute, based in Egypt and represented by the Egyptian Experts Consultancy Establishment.

The MoU was signed virtually, with both parties appending their signatures from their respective locations, marking the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership aimed at advancing academic and professional development.

The agreement, led by TUN Vice Chancellor/CEO Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, Ph.D., and Dr. Ahmed Hafez, Executive Director of the Egyptian Experts Consultancy Establishment, seeks to foster collaboration in key areas of education, training, and research.

According to the MoU, the two institutions will jointly work to provide training and educational opportunities for students, enhance both basic and technical skills, and promote the exchange of scientific and applied expertise in areas of shared interest.

The partnership also outlines clear responsibilities for both parties. Tharaka University will facilitate operational cooperation and provide necessary infrastructure, such as lecture facilities, when required. On the other hand, the ESG Resources Institute will offer technical expertise, training tools, and qualified instructors to support the implementation of joint educational programs.

The implementation of this MoU will be closely coordinated through Tharaka University’s Faculty of Life Sciences and Natural Resources (FLIN), under the leadership of the Dean, Dr. Marciano Mutiga. The Faculty will play a central role in driving the academic and training components of the partnership, ensuring that the objectives of the agreement are effectively realized.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, both parties expressed their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the agreement, emphasizing the importance of sustainable collaboration in addressing contemporary academic and societal challenges.

The MoU is expected to run for an initial period of three years, with provisions for renewal upon mutual agreement. It also provides a framework for the development of specific programs through separate agreements that will further define the scope of collaboration.

This partnership underscores Tharaka University’s continued commitment to expanding international collaborations and enhancing the quality of training and research for its students and staff, in line with its strategic vision of academic excellence and global engagement.
