Day Two of the Tharaka University (TUN) stakeholder engagement and curriculum development engineering workshop at the Kenya School of Government, Embu, placed a strong focus on the standards and requirements that underpin quality engineering education. Eng. Paul Ochola from the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) facilitated an engaging session on engineering accreditation and curriculum development based on EBK and Washington Accord set standards.
The session centred on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), highlighting the need for engineering curricula to focus on clearly defined graduate outcomes, competencies and practical skills that respond to industry and societal needs. Discussions further examined the Washington Accord framework and Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) standards as key benchmarks for developing and accrediting engineering programmes.
