Tharaka University (TUN) Vice-Chancellor/CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, has today led the institution in signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Guangzhou Huashang College, China, to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The partnership seeks to establish and build a mutually beneficial relationship between TUN and Guangzhou Huashang College through collaboration in education, student and faculty mobility, research, cultural exchange, and knowledge sharing.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will explore opportunities for joint educational programmes, articulation agreements, and pathway progression opportunities, providing students with opportunities to pursue academic experiences across the two institutions.
The MoU will also facilitate student exchange programmes, enabling undergraduate students to participate in short-term study, cultural exchange, and semester-long programmes.
The partnership also provides opportunities for academic staff and researchers to exchange knowledge and expertise through teaching, seminars, collaborative learning, and joint research activities.
A key component of the partnership is the promotion of Chinese language and cultural programmes at Tharaka University. The two institutions will explore opportunities to offer Chinese language training and cultural activities to students, faculty, and staff.
The partnership is expected to enhance international exposure for TUN students and staff while creating new opportunities for academic, research, and cultural engagement between Kenya and China.
Through the cooperation, Tharaka University continues to strengthen its global partnerships and expand opportunities that contribute to quality education, innovation, research, and the development of globally competitive graduates.
Present during the signing ceremony were TUN DVC ARSA, Prof. Veronica Nyaga, PhD; Dean, FPET, Dr. Fidelis Ngugi, PhD; Director, Linkages and Partnerships, Dr. Collins Sitienei, PhD; and Senior Lecturer, Dr. Urbanus M. Ndolo, PhD. Representing Guangzhou Huashang College were Vice President Prof. JIAO Fangtai; Vice Director, International Office, Ms. Xiong Zike; Senior Programme Coordinator, International Office, Ms. LIANG Chiyun; and Officers, International Office, Ms. HUANG Juexi and Mr. SHEN Weichu.
The MoU underscores the commitment of both institutions to work together in areas of shared interest for mutual benefit and sustainable institutional growth.
