Tharaka University hosted an interdenominational service that brought together members of the University community and representatives from different denominations for a time of praise, worship, prayer and fellowship.
The service was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Planning) Prof. Collins Miruka; staff; students; artiste Moji Shortbabaa; and a team from The Tent of Testimonies International, led by Bishop Fred Akama.
The service commenced with praise and worship, setting the tone for a day of spiritual reflection and fellowship.
The congregation was also treated to vibrant presentations from various groups within the University community, including the Seventh-day Adventist Choir, Catholic Association, Christian Union, Tharaka University Students Association (TUSA), and staff.
The Dean of Students, Dr. Shadrack Munanu, welcomed the congregants.
In his remarks, Prof. Muriungi commended the University community for maintaining a disciplined environment and highlighted the institution’s clean record of not experiencing strikes.
The Vice Chancellor also addressed the recent River Kathita incident, conveying his condolences to the family that lost their loved one through drowning in the river.
He cautioned students against visiting the area and urged them to prioritise their safety.
Bishop Fred Akama delivered the sermon, sharing a message of faith and spiritual reflection with the congregation.
Intercessory prayers were subsequently led by representatives from the different denominations present.
The Dean of Students said the offerings received during the service would be added to the kitty supporting needy students at the University.
The service also featured a performance by artiste Moji Shortbabaa, adding an entertaining and celebratory touch to the day’s fellowship.
The interdenominational service concluded with a closing prayer led by Bishop Akama.
