Tharaka University (TUN) has successfully concluded five days of showcasing its innovations at the just-ended Science, Technology, Research & Innovation for Society (STRI4SOCIETY) Week 2026 held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, under the theme “Igniting Innovation: Bridging Science and Society for Sustainable Development.”
The week-long exhibition provided exciting opportunities for learning, networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among researchers, innovators, institutions, industry players, and members of the public. Throughout the event, the TUN exhibition booth attracted high-level delegates, partners, stakeholders, and citizens who interacted with the University’s innovations and appreciated the impact and potential of the projects in addressing real societal challenges.
During the exhibition, the University also engaged with potential collaborators and partners who expressed interest in supporting and advancing the showcased innovations. Members of the public acknowledged the practical value of the projects, noting their potential in providing solutions to challenges affecting communities.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, who also officiated the launch of the Masterplan for Research Financing and Capacity Strengthening. He was accompanied by Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Principal Secretary for Higher Education, and Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, Principal Secretary, State Department for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Tharaka University representatives participating in the week-long event included Dr. Alex Muthengi, Dr. Fidelis Ngugi, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Engineering and Technology (FPET), and Dr. Silas Njiru, alongside student innovators who proudly showcased the University’s research and innovation capacity.
TUN continues to strengthen its connection with society through active participation in national and international platforms that promote research, innovation, technology, and sustainable development.
