The agreement was led by the Vice Chancellor and CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, marking a new chapter of collaboration between the university and the local community.

The partnership is aimed at promoting, preserving, and revitalizing Tharaka cultural heritage while also advancing research, innovation, and sustainable development. In addition, the MOU provides a framework for joint research initiatives, community-based projects, and academic engagement that integrates classroom knowledge with lived cultural experiences. The agreement further creates opportunities for students and community members through mentorship programs, training workshops, and internships, helping to empower youth while strengthening ties between the university and the community. Cultural festivals, exhibitions, and knowledge-sharing forums are also expected to be key highlights of the collaboration.
